I'm Back added by Fr. Mac
Let me say that it is great being back from an extended vacation. Eyes and ears are all doing well. I know I will get the dickens from my skin doctor when he sees the tan, but you only live once, and we will be dead for a long time. Reflecting on our parish at its present condition, I cannot fathom how well we are actually doing. We made our Charity Drive Goal for the first time in 6 years. The Priests Retirement Collection is among the top 10% of all the parishes in the diocese. Our weekly income fluctuates but it is steady. Times are tough, but they couldn’t be tougher here.
Speaking of the Retirement Fund, Fr. Maynard will be preaching at all the Masses on September 17th & 18th. We are very fortunate to have him, and Fr. Young as well as Fathers Lavin, Smith and Brassil help out at our Masses. Do you know that they have to do this ministry in order to survive? Pay careful attention to the homilies on the appeal Weekend.

Summer News added by Fr. Mac
Sunday Evening Mass

Beginning on September 12th and running thru Fathers Day 2011, we will add a 5:30 p.m. Mass to our Sunday Schedule. In addition, our Confirmation I and II classes will be having class on Sunday evenings. Each of those evenings will feature a guest celebrant who will focus on the Youth especially. Class will then follow. Further information is forthcoming to each of the 9th and 10th graders.

St. Ann Feast Day

Well, nine days of Mass and Novena Prayers, attended by over 75 people everyday, a Healing Mass with over 250 people in attendance and a capacity attendance at Mass with Bishop Evans is certainly a strong sign that St. Ann Parish is vibrant and alive. One thousand and one thank you’s to all who made this year’s feast, so successful. Hope everyone enjoyed our “cook-in”!

Security Around The Parish

Recently there have been a number of incidents around the facility that demands we beef up security. Anyone or any group using any part of the facility please make sure that the building is totally secure. The Church will be accessible only from the side door nearest the rectory. It will be locked from 12 Noon on!

Been A Long Tiring Week

A long month of hazy hot humid weather that included our Feast Day, Novena, Picnic, Healing Mass, and I thought it would be better this week. Five Funerals and/or Committals, Wakes, a robbery of cleaning personnel’s billfolds, bats in the rectory which cost $1,000.00 for the exterminator and the need to vacate for a few days commuting 100 miles a day… Does it ever end??? As the summer begins to wind down in a few weeks, we will be looking for a number of people interested in doing stewardship for their parish. For example, several mornings a week, we are looking for persons to serve as receptionist for the parish office: answer phone, taking messages etc. Sign ups will take place on Ministry Sunday, September 12th.
